COS-B measurements of the spectra of the Crab and VELA gamma-ray sources
Abstract
COS-B measurements above 50 MeV of the pulsed and total energy spectra of the Crab and Vela gamma-ray sources are reported here. It is found that the pulsed fraction of the Crab is consistent with 100 percent above 400 MeV while below this energy the pulsed fraction lies between 45 percent and 65 percent. The emission from Vela is pulsed at least to 90 percent above 50 MeV.
